American artist steve moore or pxl8r creates inconceivably detailed depictions of famous faces entirely from perler beads.
The brightly-colored plastic pieces are arranged in 11 x 11in squares then melted with the heat of a clothing-iron into photo-
realistic mosaics of contemporary celebrities. pxl8r is able to produce highly-detailed visions of easily recognizable faces
by studying an image of a face, then pixelating the image digitally before reconstructing the person’s likeness in plastic pieces.

than any bead manufacturer offers individually. these portraits can be framed, though personally I think they stand better on their own.

Taking inspiration from the signature colours of the Olympic Rings, Nike are set to release this Quickstricke Air Max collection in preparation for the 2012 Games.

The first model to be given the Olympic twist is the Air Max 90 Hyperfuse, which made its debut last year receiving a very warm welcome thanks to the Crooked Tongues ‘Infrared’ colorway.

The Air Max 95 BB is an even newer hybrid featuring the full-sole air unit borrowed from the Air Max 2011 model and also recently featured in the atmos retailer collab in a similar ‘Olympic Gold’ make-up.

Fiona Krüger’s ‘Memento Mori’ timepiece reinterprets the theme of mortality in watch-making.  The luxury watch appreciates both the mexican imagery of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)  and the 17th century watch of Mary Queen of Scotts, with a human skull detailed with decorative gold metalwork. The skeletal form of the the faceplate is formed by layering, by which the intricate nature of a mechanical watch is reinforced.

The case, in the shape of skull to represent mortality, is fashioned from solid silver and mineral hand cut glass and is also engraved by hand. The dial is made from gold
and rhodium plated brass which has been laser cut and engraved. Blued steel hands of the clock move by a ETA 2824 mechanism over the skull watch face. ‘Momento Mori’ is fastened to one’s wrist by a blued calf leather band with a silver buckle, somber but wonderful piece of design and craftsmanship.

It’s that time of year agin folks… StreetFest is back for 2012! StreetFest has established itself as a credible independent platform for new breakthorugh artists to showcase their budding talent. Previous years have seen Professor Green, Maverick Sabre, Mr Hudson, Ghost Poet & Wretch 32 grace the StreetFest stage. As well as being packed with music, art, dance, spoken word, fashion and urban sports StreetFest is aimed at supporting and advocating emerging talent from the UK. StreetFest is all about bringing together a creative collective to showcase new and undiscovered talent.

We can reveal Dagenham lyricist Devlin will be headlining this years StreetFest, lending his grime taught, fast paced wordplay to the  East London event. StreetFest will also feature the likes of Lady Leshurr, one of Britian’s top female spitters, who will be stepping up and delivering her rich and complex lyrics at the East London crowd. Hopefully a Deviln x Lady Leshurr battle is on the cards!

Alongside her will be Loren & Sara aka the WORK IT Girls, who will be playing classic sounds of new jack swing, old school RnB and Hip-Hop, dropping anything from Wu Tang, GangStarr, Biggie, TLC, Aaliyah and Missy Elliot to name but a few.

The art focus of the festival consists of many different types of artists ranging from aerosol to illustrators and from fine art to stencil based artisans. This year you can catch Malarky re-creating his crazy little world of characters. Anyone who has walked the streets of East London in the last year will have been lucky enough to see his unique signature quirky creations, whether it’s a jazzy-looking box with a light switch nose and rave glasses or a triangle of bricks with hairy legs and fresh trainers; you know a Malarky character when you see one. The combination of these bright, endearing creations and his unrelenting mission to paint, has thrust him into the forefront of London’s street-art scene. He’s Collaborated with the likes of Bromley, Lucas, Billy and Mr Penfold as well as working on projects for New Era, Footlocker and Converse.

Bridge Stehli – Hailing from Melbourne Australia, is an artist who can put her hand to anything; from beautifully detailed paintings to live drawing, graffiti and body art. Taking inspiration from the people around her and her love of Disney and Warner Bros, her perceptive style effectively marries human traits and animal characteristics. Having spent most of her youth being pigeon holed as a ‘hot girl graffiti artist’ she decided to turn the tables and make light of the stereotype by objectifying some of her male graffiti friends and painting onto their bodies in a project called ‘graffiti on graffers’. This has got a lot of hype recently and you can see her ‘graffing on graffers’ for the first time in London at StreetFest 2012.
